Contracts

Scope Creep

By Tim Nichols

In plain English

The gradual expansion of requested work beyond the originally agreed scope without a corresponding agreed adjustment to price, resources, or timing. It is an operational problem that can become a contract dispute. Defined deliverables and consistent change-order procedures help distinguish included work from additional services.
